Today, May 11, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. Polish time, the first (of two) days of the Google Keynote event (Google I/O ’22) has started. Since the event was broadcast live on YouTube, anyone with access to the network could see the Google company’s new plans for the coming weeks and months. In previous news, to which we refer below, you will find an overview of the most important news in the field of security, artificial intelligence and other improvements that the Mountain View giant is planning in its products. In this document, we will focus more on hardware news and Android 13, which just appeared today in beta on select devices.

At today’s Google I/O event, the Mountain View giant announced not only the Android 13 beta, but also a slew of new Pixel devices.

Google I/O 2022 – summary of the main news from the first day of the conference

Let’s start with Android 13. New features of the system include, for example, the possibility of using each application in a different language or the encryption of RCS messages in the end-to-end standard. Google speakers didn’t focus too much on the boldness of all the changes, perhaps due to the fact that they are already widely known (you can read about it, for example, here). However, it has been announced that the beta system will appear today on select devices from ASUS, Oppo, and Xiaomi. Incidentally, the “new” Google Wallet has also been announced, which will now allow the storage of digital documents such as student cards, vaccination certificates or driving licenses. Google’s goal is for the Wallet app to completely replace our physical wallet. Additionally, this fall, Chrome OS devices will be able to pair with Android smartphones through the Phone Link app.

Short, Pixel 6A is the budget version of the Pixel 6 model, priced at $449. The battery is, in turn, a unit with a capacity of 4306 mAh, and the memory will be 6 GB of RAM coupled with a data carrier of 128 gigabytes. The specification will be completed with WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, stereo speakers and a fingerprint reader.

Smartphones will also appear in the fall Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro (picture below). From the specs, we can expect the next-gen Tensor processor and, of course, Android 13 to boot. So far, however, no further details have been revealed, so we have to be patient. At the same time as the “seven” will debut on the market, a new audio device from Google will also appear – we are talking about headphones Pixel Buds Prowhich should give us up to 11 hours of continuous work on a single charge. As you’d expect, the TWS will receive both ANC mode and transparent mode. Eventually, the Buds will also support Spatial Audio technology. The chips were priced at $199.

Google Pixel Buds Pro can compete with Apple AirPods Pro. The premiere of headphones is coming soon

Alongside the Pixel 7 smartphone and Pixel Buds Pro headphones, the manufacturer’s first smartwatch will also make an appearance – Pixel Watch. What can you say about him? It will be a design prepared in cooperation with Fitbit, with a round dial, easily replaceable straps and running (as if otherwise) on the WearOS system. Thanks to this, the watch will offer solutions such as Google Assistant or Google Pay. The watch will also “provide” popular solutions such as sleep tracking, heart rate monitor or physical activity tracking. The price was not given, as well as more details. So we still have to wait.
